EUDR guide for exporters in Colombia

Colombia is a standard-risk country for the European Union. Your buyer will carry out full due diligence, and the point that usually takes most work here is showing the right to use each property.

Showing the right to the land

The EUDR requires production to follow the law of the country, and that includes land use rights. In Colombia the reference record for ownership is the folio de matrícula inmobiliaria: the Agencia Nacional de Tierras treats it as the proper document to prove title to a property.

Many growers, one batch

Much production passes through cooperatives, mills and collectors. Each intermediary has to keep which plots fed each batch. Without that link the chain breaks, even if every plot is well documented.

What to have ready per plot

Labour and environmental rules

Legality also covers the labour, environmental and tax rules that apply. The European Commission has announced a database of each country's relevant legislation: when it is available, use it to confirm the list.

The shared rules are in the guides on geolocation, the due diligence statement and country risk levels.
